Word of the Week is: Home

Everything I love is associated with home. In fact, just today, whilst on the way to the hairdressers, and talking about this post, my youngest said 'I bet you wish you were there now'. Yup, he knows me well, it's our favourite place to be, probably all of us.

However, there has been more, associated with home, this week. Ajax didn't make it to school on Monday, well he did, but pretty much straight back home. Unfortunately he is too unsteady on crutches, we are all worried about him bumping it and he can't have his wheelchair in school (I've never really understood why, it's possible they just don't think he needs it).

So, for the foreseeable, he is being home schooled. I'm tired, yes, but kinda loving it! It's just so much fun, so relaxing. We learn at our own pace, yet we are getting more done, while enjoying each others company. Also we get to visit our favourite cafe, after visiting the local library.

(Can I just say, this picture shows something massive! He never drinks anything but milk and red squash, but decided to try this and, actually liked it!)

Also this week: My middle boy, my teen, has finished school! He's done himself proud, he's driven us a bit mad, but we got through it. That's the second of my children out of secondary and on the way to college, now we just have the stress of waiting for his results. It feels a little weird having 2 'adult' children, I don't feel old enough, some days anyway.

There's been some home improvements being made too. I've written up a 'Hinch' list (see her on Instagram, if you don't know what I'm talking about), just jobs I want to do around the house. We're also making other improvements, particularly to Ajax's bedroom. His bedroom still has the remnants of my eldest boy, plus some stuff we dumped in there, when the two youngest shared a room, after eldest moved out. It's time he got his own room, laid out for him. We are getting him a new bed, with a space underneath for a reading nook. I want to make it a more pleasant space for him, keeping in mind his sensory issues.

So, it's all about 'home', at the moment, and I'm loving it. I'm a proper home body.

  1. I like being at home too.
Poor Ajax not being able to go to school but it sounds like it's for the best. It sounds like you are having a fab time with the homeschooling.
Well done to him for trying something new! That looks like a fab milkshake!
My teen still has a day and a half of school and a few more exams. It's going to seem like forever waiting for the results.
Good luck with the home improvements. x

  2. I'm a home body too, but I do get fed up of these four walls sometimes. It's a shame they won't let Ajax use his wheelchair at school, but homeschooling can be nice sometimes. I did it with my boy for six months. Thanks for linking up to #wotw x

  3. I'm glad the home schooling is working out. It must be more relaxed not being restricted by the start and end of the school day. Learning at your own pace. I love home too. It really is the heart of the family. I have plans to decorate my youngest bedroom soon. Long over due. A reading nook sounds a perfect idea. Must feel wonderful to be almost through the latest GCSE exams. August is such a long time to wait. Hope you have a lovely week. #wotw

  4. Glad that the home schooling is working well for Ajax at the moment. I home-schooled Jessica for a few weeks after she recovered from her last surgery and loved it. It's nice to be able to learn at your own pace. Finishing school is a big milestone. Good luck to your middle son with his results and hope the home improvements go well. #WotW
