Word of the Week

There's only one thing that's taken over this house, this week. It's been the main topic of conversation:

With one child starting his GCSE, and another in the middle of the stupid stats (that's what they should be called), the stress levels are through the roof..........mainly mine and Mr. Ojos.

Our middle boy, who I thought would be seriously struggling, is SO chilled! Every day he comes in,
I ask 'how do you think it went?'.
Every day is the same: 'Okay, I think, I answered the questions'.
I know I should be relieved, he's handling it extraordinarily well, but I'm just waiting for the fallout. I've learnt to expect the worst, and hope for the best!

Ajax isn't coping so well, with the stupid sats. He blew through the reading test: Proud parent boast, he's amongst the top in his year. However, he loves reading, it's his favourite thing to do, the rest, not so much.

Thankfully his teacher knows him incredibly well, so when he started to get overly anxious, during the one test, she put a stop to it. I really can't stress enough how wonderful it is, to have a teacher that truly understands your child, especially when your child has different needs.

We have a few weeks of this, then a bunch of other stuff going on, including prom, a Pink concert and a little holiday!

I should be free, around August!

What week sums up your week?
I'm joining in with Raisie Bay, who round up all the links.

  1. Stupid Sats, I have to agree, they make my blood boil. Thankfully my two girls are done with them and My autistic girl was given a room on her own to do the tests in. She's just choosing her GCSE options now! My Little Man still has the Stupid Sats to face but I'm so hoping they'll be scrapped soon. I hope your two do well in their tests. It's good your middle boy is so chilled. Roll on the good times. Thanks for linking up to word of the week and being one of my Wowers this week xx #wotw

  2. My teen has her first exam on Monday. R.E and then a couple of Science one's during the week. She is so chilled about them too. Well at the moment she is. Good luck to your boy!
Ahh! The SATs are stupid!! It is great that the teacher is being supportive and stopping the tests when things are not going so well.
I think we will all be glad when exam season is over!

  3. It's so silly that so much emphasis is put on those tests, my 7 year old is doing SATS week after next but they haven't been told it will just be mixed in with their usual classwork thankfully. Best of luck to both your kids x

  4. Well done your middle boy for keeping his head. I hope he does well. You're lucky to have a teacher who can read your youngest so well. So much pressure on them all. Love that you call them stats instead of sats. Hope next week goes smoothly. #wotw

  7. Hope that the GCSEs are going well for your middle boy and glad that Ajax's teacher is so understanding. It is such a shame that children are put under pressure for these tests. Hope that this week has been a less stressful one. #WotW
