My word of the week:

After, what feels like, a crazy couple of weeks, this weeks word(s) is:

Our Easter holidays began today, thank goodness. I wish I could say that it's two weeks of lie ins and laziness, but I can't. Middle boy has to be in school by 7:45am Monday, for a three day trip to London, which means I'll be stressing for 3 days (I wish I was joking).
On the upside, Ajax is going for a sleepover with his biggest brother. This means me and Mr. Ojo are actually going out! Typically, there's not much on at the cinema, but I'll enjoy anything, just because we'll be out alone.

The 2 week break is desperately needed here, there are so many changes coming up, something neither of my youngest cope with particularly well.
Teen son is in the midst of exam fever and he really is struggling, bless him. I've always told my boys that I'm their safe place, the place they can rant away, knowing that it will go no further. He is, very much, taking advantage of this at the moment.
I'm so pleased that my boys understand that I'm happy to be their sounding board, but boy I'm glad I dye my hair, because it's already white!

Aside from that, we have two of them changing schools, in September. Ajax will be starting secondary, but going to an SRB unit, so will be well supported. However, he's struggling so much, at the moment in school, it can't come quick enough. He will start having enhanced transition, after the Easter break, I'm not sure he'll want to go back to his current school lol.

Then obviously, teen son will be starting college. He's excited, but it's adding extra stress on him, to get good grades, so he can get on the course he wants. He's already been accepted, pending his grades.

So, as you can imagine, adding autism/changes/exams, into a big mixing bowl, is not a recipe for peace.

The next 2 weeks will hopefully be a haven of calm, so we can have a, much required, breather!

  1. As a an autistic person myself I can relate with the Change. It is good that they have a safe place and someone to talk to. It makes all the difference X

  2. Hooray for the Easter holidays.
I hope your middle boy has a great trip to London. Try not to worry too much. I know easier said than done.
Ohh! I hope you and Mr Ojo have a fab time while you are child free!
Bless your teen son. I totally get the exam stress. My teen has been starting to feel it this week and then theres the stress of starting college. My teen has already taken a few GCSE's early and we have the results which means all she needs is one more GCSE pass to get on the course she wants. Eek!
Hang on in there. I am sure it will all be well in September for us both x

  3. I hope the changes go easier than you imagine. Also the exams too. Couldn't help laughing about your hair colour comment. Hope you had a good evening out. Definitely deserved. I'm a sounding board for my teens too. It can be tough at times. #wotw
