A Month of Honesty: Day 28

Today has been a lazy one. The last couple of days have seriously taken their toll on Mr. Ojo. He's needed his painkillers, and has struggled to stay awake today. I'm still full up with this flu, so I'm no use to anyone (plus I'm a complete wimp when I get sick!)

We thought we would have a film day, with the boys. The teen got up, around mid afternoon, then disappeared for the rest of the day, so it was just the 2 youngest. A film day sounds like a nice relaxing way to spend a day, doesn't it?

It's not.

Watching a film, with 2 children on the autistic spectrum, is exhausting! We have watched (explained) 3 Harry Potter films. By the time the children went to bed, at just after 9pm, we were shattered, heads truly fried.

They don't sit still, they miss bits, they talk over it (then you need to rewind it, because they missed something), they stand in front of the TV (so you're constantly saying 'beep beep'), they tap, stim, fiddle, and everything has to be explained!

All through this, you stay calm, or there will be a meltdown.

It's exhausting, and that's why special needs parents always look so fried.

Anyway, here is today's

Breakfast: Bacon and sausage, with 2 pieces of bread
Dinner: Stew, loads of delicious stew.
Tea: Chicken, bacon, mushroom and onion omelet.
Snacks: Snickers (wouldn't you, have you read above!?), satsumas.

When I said lazy, I meant it:
That's just around the house, I haven't got dressed!

Well Being:

This cold is still kicking my butt, and I am still feeling VERY sorry for myself about it! I'm not the best person to be around when ill, I'm very high maintenance.

Mental Health:

I'm not sure how I feel. I'm a bit low, because I feel utterly useless. I know people will say that I'm ill, I'm allowed to rest, but when you see your husband in pain, you want to do more. The children seem happy with the situation, because I'm not pushing them to do anything, which again makes me feel a bit useless. Hopefully it will pass with the cold, I really don't want to slip into the dark days again.

So that's today.
A completely lazy day, the only other person I've seen today is my mam, and that wasn't for long (I don't think she wanted to catch the lurgy).

How are you doing today?
