Easy Dinners

Last week I was sent a bundle of Schwartz sachets, mostly from their Authentic Indian range, to try out and review.

Now, I am a huge fan of Indian food (thanks to the Mister working in a restaurant kitchen, many moons ago). However, trying to eat healthier, it has definitely fallen off the menu, all that cream also isn't very good for the lactose intolerance.

So these, coming through the post, were a blessing:

I think you can guess what my meal plan looked like last week!

The first to be tasted, was the Korma, always my favourite dish. I followed all the instructions as closely as I could, only 2 things were changed:
I used cooked chicken, as I'm a fan of 'cook from frozen' chicken.
I used Coconut milk, as I'm lactose intolerant.

The instructions are incredibly easy to follow. I added my chicken at the same time, even though it was already cooked.

The finished product is delicious. I served mine with some microwave, brown, Basmati rice. The flavour was spot on, not too hot, with the coconut tones going through it. I'm not sure if using my coconut milk made a difference, either way, it was delicious.

My hubby and I have quite big healthy appetites, and it satisfied us:

The hubby and the eldest had the Pulled Pork next. I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce, but even I can admit that the smell was amazing, as it was cooking. I left this one to Mr. Ojo to cook, again, the instructions were easy to follow and the additional ingredients were all store cupboard type items.

It went perfectly, which is why I don't have any pictures for you! They pretty much finished it off, before I had a chance.

The last one to be tested, last week, was the Biryani. This was one of Mr. Ojo's favourites, when he worked in the Indian restaurant kitchen, so it had a lot to live up to.

Again, I changed the chicken slightly, this time going for Chicken Tikka pieces. It cooked up lovely, however, the next time I cook it, I'll be slightly pre-boiling the rice.  There was a little bit of a bite to it, which I'm not a big fan of.

I really do think this is down to personal taste though. I also found this one quite hot, again though, personal taste (and I'm a bit of a wimp!).

It did live up to the misters expectations, he completely cleared his plate.

I will definitely be buying these again, quite frankly, the only thing missing was the sides. We're big fans of the *home made takeaway* in this house, these sachets open up more cuisines for us to add.

Whether you're a fan of Indian flavours or, like me, are trying to cut back and eat healthier, these are definitely a good option. It saves time, and money, what's not to love?

If you do try them, please let me know what you thought.

Much Love
