Another week of January gone. I'm not going to lie, it's not going quick enough for me! I'm off to London with my hubby in, just over, a week. It's only about once a year we get to go away, without children, and it's not coming quick enough!
(Disclaimer, I really do adore my children, but having 2 on the spectrum is bloody exhausting!)
That's not on THIS week's reasons though, this week is all about the budget filled 'do over' my house is having.
So here's this weeks:
1. Bargain carpets. Last week I went to a local bed/carpet shop, to pick a bed. While there, I spotted some bargain off cuts, one of which was £10, and was the perfect size for my teens bedroom! After a bargain like that, I went back and found a carpet for our bedroom for £45! As you can see, the dog likes it:
2. A new Bed. The bed I picked is coming back tomorrow. I paid around £60 for my current bed, about 7 years ago, from Ikea. It has served us well, but it's come to the point where it's far too low for Mr.Ojo to get out of. Plus, the mattress was actually from the bed before. So the upgrade is definitely needed.
3. Polystyrene lining. My son has been sleeping in a room filled with condensation, for years. We have been at a loss, as to what to do. Thanks to some DIY pages, on Facebook, and some advice from my mum, we decided to try lining his outer wall with polystyrene. We found some on Amazon, for less than £6, and.... It seems to be working!
His room is already warmer and dryer. So now we can cover it, decorate it, and keep everything crossed!
So that's my Reasons, what's yours?
The linky is with Becky this month, from Lakes Single mum. In all honesty, we are both a bit behind this week, apologies.
Keep smiling!
I'm really intrigued by the polystyrene... is it just like thin tiles or something? Brilliant if it works!
ReplyDeleteIt is. It's on a roll, like wall paper, but is just 2mm thick polystyrene. I'm paying it works x
Deleteomg I love love love your purple carpet! What a bargain! Have you tried a dehumidifier as well for the condensation? x
ReplyDeleteWe have one in my sons room, but I'm getting another for the bathroom. It's great! x
DeleteSounds like perfect reasons to be cheerful. Well done on the bargain carpets
ReplyDeleteI do love a bargain! x
DeleteI'd be interested to know how the polystyrene lining works out as our house was full of
ReplyDeletecondensation until we started to use a dehumidifier. Great prices for the carpets!
I shall let you know, at the moment his bedroom seems to be improving every day x
DeleteGreat reasons, loving the carpet bargains. I would never have known you can put polystyrene as wallpaper. Great that it works
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought about it either! Glad it was mentioned though x
DeleteLovely to have a mini house makeover for the spring and really hope that the polystyrene works - damp is horrible x
ReplyDeleteIt really is, his bedroom always smelt funny x
DeleteYou are busy getting stuff sorted. I love how proactive you are these days. So looking forward to hearing how your London weekend goes - hope you have lots of naughty but nice stuff going on while you are away
