I've been talking about something, well pretty much, all this year. It's had the # Never Too Old.
I wanted to learn to ride a bike. I assumed I had done it as a child, but my mum said 'nope', I'd never had a bike! Thinking back, I remember my brothers skateboard, but not a bike. Friends bikes, yes, but I'm not sure that I ever actually owned one.
This meant I had never learnt to ride a bike!
Everyone does that as a child don't they?? Well, this year, I was determined to learn.
I want my own form of transport.
I want to be out, riding around like the vintage pictures you see!
I wanted it for exercise.
Then, a few days ago, my hubby came in with an early Christmas present.........A brand spanking new bike!

It had to be put together! |
I'd had a second hand one, but I couldn't reach the floor! As I never ridden before, this was just too scary. I want to be able to put my feet down.
So my hubby bought a bike for little legs like mine!! To say I was excited, was a major understatement.
Then, today was the day.
We went to a local park, that has plenty of grass, and a long path. We walked up, with me pushing the bike.
Then my hubby told me what to do, I got on, and pushed off..............
I only bloody did it!
I do not have enough words to explain the utter glee I felt, when I realised I could do this! The utter freedom I felt. I didn't want to get off, I ended up riding up and down the path for, around, 20 minutes.
When I did get off, and we left to walk home, I just wanted to get back on my bike. So, guess what? I did! I cycled most of the way home too, just because I could.
Thankfully, I am already aware of the rules of the road, so safety wasn't a concern. I am still a bit wobbly, and I was aware of this when other cars approached, so I would pull to the side and stop.
We've had the bike all checked over, and it's all ok and ready for me. I just can't wait for the next dry day, so I can go again!
This feels like one of the best days of my life:
Today, this 41 year old lady, learnt to rid a bike!
#NeverTooOld
Well done you! That is absolutely fantastic! I am so pleased for you xxx
