This is a tough one to write this week.
Yes, I've been struggling with my depression, and some general health issues, but that isn't the reason it's hard.
Earlier this week an old friends daughter lost her fight with Cystic Fibrosis.
She was an utterly beautiful girl, who was always smiling.
My thoughts are with her mum, dad and brother, all the time.
It's so hard to write about cheerfulness, when your heart is aching for a genuine reason, but I do have one.
I am grateful for modern medicine.
It gave us 20 years of this beautiful girl.
It gave her the chance to be the inspiration she was.
It gave us a chance to understand more about this dreadful condition.
It gave her life.
So, today, walk outside and take a deep breathe for B, who is at peace now
So sorry! So glad you've been able to find some cheerfulness in such a tough week x
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to imagine that even in our childhood children born with CF had little chance of living to adulthood. So glad she gave 20 years of memories to her family and friends.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've been able to find some reasons to be cheerful this week x
ReplyDeleteThat last sentence is so poignant. My condolences to you and your friends xx
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad. Her poor family. But good to find the positive that she lived for 20 years and was able to light up lives in that time. It's not so many years ago that she wouldn't have survives anywhere near that long. Thinking of you all. x
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear this Jo, thoughts go to all who are grieving so sad but you are right too, medicine is one of the greatest things and it keeps evolving, I'm pleased she lived to her 20s and lit up lives, I'm sure she's of wanted you to find a reason to be cheerful xx
