I am not going to lie to you, I have been extremely nervous about this trip with little A.
The last time we went on a school trip, to a local farm, it took me and the staff 45 mins just to get him in the mini bus. He then cried, screamed and tried to climb out of his car seat all the way home!
So as you can imagine I was a little apprehensive.
I got myself quite organised last night. Made the sarnies and cooked some sausage rolls. All ready to pack up my rucksack this morning. Little A was quite excited at the prospect of going on his 1st proper school trip. The first thing I did this morning was put A's Kattoo on (click on the name to be taken to their web page).
This gives me a huge amount of relief! They are ideal for any child, just put on like a normal childs tattoo then, using the pen supplied, write your phone number. However, for a child like mine, who's understanding is not great, they are a genius idea! He was fascinated by it.
So that was my mind put at rest int that area.
Being honest with you, and myself, little A's behaviour is far more settled now. My management of his behaviour is much better too. I made sure I prepared him mentally and physically to go.
I must say........we had an awesome day!!
We settled on the beach, sat with my sis-in-law, who had come with her granddaughter. It made the whole day easier, as someone was always sat by the bags. It also meant I had a grown up to talk to so I didn't go completely crazy!
Little A loved the sea. I had to buy him shorts as the seaside shop, he hasn't wanted to wear them since falling earlier in the year, but I told him he had to if he wanted to go in the sea........so he did!

We had a countdown to leaving time, which involved some chips if he was good, which he was. However, when we got to the chip shop, he changed his mind and wanted ice-cream!
So we had a 99 to walk back to the bus with.
He dealt with the whole day incredibly well, I will happily do it again as we had some, honest to goodness, real fun. The Kattoo stayed put all day, through sea, sand and sun cream. Very happy with that, especially as we saw a little girl being reunited with her, very relieved looking, dad, at the life guard station.
I am definitely linking this up with Reasons to be cheerful this week with the lovely Mich at Mummy from the heart. I have had a bit of a low week, so today has been like a tonic.
