Reasons to be Cheerful 23/01

It's Thursday today, did you know that? Is it just me or is this month seriously dragging?!

It's probably just the post Christmas thing, but I just want it to end now.

Anyway, Thursday equals reasons to be cheerful, with the lovely Lakes Single Mum:

Reasons to be Cheerful
1. My weekend break. Yes I felt guilty leaving the children behind, but I had a weekend of good food and a comfortable bed. Oh and plenty of alone time with the hubby...........what's not to love? I think it was the final fix needed in our marriage. We had time to talk, time to be a couple, wonderful.

2. My sewing. It's driving me crazy, but it's lovely to be learning again. My brain feels alive.

3. My husband making my boys laugh. Last night he went to my teen sons parents eve. It's the last one before he sits his GCSE's (a blog post coming about that soon). My son is doing fairly well in school, he's not totally giving his all (which I am desperately working on), but he still looks like he's going to pass everything. The only subject he's not doing great in, is Welsh.
In Welsh schools it's compulsory to do the language, something which I don't agree with. I agree that it is a good idea to keep the traditional language alive, but I don't think it should be forced!
Nobody in this house speaks it fluently. I can count to 10, but I can also do that in French, Korean and once upon a time, German. I think my tween son will love doing it, he is his classes Welsh Wizard.
The point of the R2BC is........my hubby sat down with my sons Welsh teacher last night, and basically told him that he found it annoying! Apparently every fact the teacher threw up, my hubby shot down! My son was highly amused.
(as a side note, I hope I do not cause offence to my Welsh speaking friends. I just think it should be a choice)

Hope you all have reasons to be cheerful this week, please share!

  5. So glad you got a weekend away, that's fab. Also very interested in your points about Welsh - it wasn't compulsory or even taught in my school, but we were all keen to learn! Yet here in Ireland where Irish is compulsory all through school, you almost never hear it spoken in public.

  6. Love the idea of your weekend away as a couple. So easy to forget quality time together or just find it impossible when you are parents.
Something makes me think you are not fully happen unless you are using that amazing brain of yours a bit like me so really pleased that the sewing is stimulating those grey cells. Have a lovely week
