(not so) Silent Sunday

I couldn't do a silent Sunday today, this picture deserves words. This picture will imprint on my memory for a long time.

This is a picture of my son, with 2 presents, nothing special you think. But look at my son, look at his hair.

Yesterday, for the very 1st time, my son allowed me to cut his hair.
No performance, just a couple of ows.
No tears or screaming.

This is a picture of the very 1st time my son allowed me to use the shaver to cut it.
He was wide awake, watching T.V.

Many of you will not understand the meaning of this, but it was a huge step forward.......MASSIVE!

I am also proud of myself, as an Autism Mum. This cut has taken a lot of patience, a lot of talking and explaining. I didn't let the razor touch his head and talked to him throughout.

This picture signifies how everything comes together some times.

Celebrate the small victories.

  1. He looks awesome! Congratulations on what may seem like a small feat for some but I understand is monumental. I used to work for the National Autistic Society many moons ago and get what a great accomplished and milestone this is!

  2. Massive step for you both, My asd son is now 9 and after 6 years of tears etc we can now cut his hair with no problem, we just wait till he tells us it needs cutting. I recommend babyliss cool brittania clippers there very quiet and low vibration compared to other we have tried xx

    1. We have really quiet clippers, I just can't remember the name! It's not the greatest cut, but I had to be quick and careful x

  7. Fabulous, well done both of you! By the way, I can't comment on your FB post because of my FB issues! (don't ask!) but if you're still having trouble sleeping (the note book by the bed is always a good idea) there is a sleep spray that The Body Shop do that smells divine and is absolutely amazing. I'd have lost the plot through our emigration without it, I recommend you try it
