Reasons to be cheerful

So another week has flown upon us.
Here we are at my favourite post of the week again, hosted my the lovely mummy from the heart.

1. It sounds odd to start a cheerful post with a bit of a rant, but here goes. In the last week I have been contacted by 2 different people, both asking about something to do with Autism. Both of the people who contacted me are waiting for a diagnosis, but been pretty much told what to expect. I think its awful that these people had to turn to me, simply because its too hard to get hold of anyone else!
Now the reason that this is on this post, is because they COULD ask me. Its wonderful that as parents we can help each other out. I am more than happy to help another parent out, and I know they would do the same for me. Its a strong but silent community.

2. Sticking to my new years 'right now' list, there has been loads of activity in the house, granted a lot of it is cleaning up the Christmas mess!! I had to get my eldest to get little A out of the room today so I could put the hoover around, he doesn't like the noise. It took me an hour and a half!!!! seriously dudes! My kids are messy. However, now it is all done, I am so much more relaxed, I do not like clutter. A clean and tidy house (well as tidy as 3 boys allows), makes me feel calm.

3.Also the lie ins. My boys are a nightmare to get to sleep at night, even though the 2 youngest go to bed between 8 and 9, I'm lucky if they are asleep by midnight. In the last week they haven't been waking up until gone 10, heaven. I even get a warm cuppa in bed before they wake, as the hubby is afternoons this week.

I'm hoping you all have something to be cheerful about this week, and for those of you with children..........they go back to school next week!! yay!!

  3. Congrats on the tidy home - it does make all the difference, doesn't it? It's on my list for the next couple of weeks: a bit of effort and we might no longer be living out of boxes!
As you say, awful that people feel they have few places to turn when awaiting a diagnosis but it is great that you are able to help them.

    1. Its nice that, as parents, we can talk to each other. I know both the people that spoke to me would be there if I needed advice or support x

  4. It's lovely when people can turn to you for advice isn't it? Yes they should be able to go to the proper place without trouble and I still hope they can but how wonderful that they feel they can come to you. Happy new year Joanna x

  5. That is so great that people have been able to turn to you for advice / support. You are so right that there is not enough support pre-diagnosis out there (or if there is no-one sign-posts people to it at the right time!). I know that the blogging world has been a real lifeline to me on bad days with my son just knowing there are others out there that understand and who go through similar things is such a comfort and support. Hope the sleep goes well for your sons this year. J always reall struggles to fall asleep - so hard to know what to do because it isn't his fault. all the very best for 2013 xxx
